A fresh update brings new energy to the KIGoogle Notebook: From now on, learning content can not only be collected and summarized, but also practiced interactively. Flashcards and quizzes are directly available in the workflow – ideal for anyone who wants to solidify their knowledge in a targeted way.

What's New

  • Index cards at the touch of a button: The system automatically generates precise question-and-answer pairs from notes and sources.
  • Quiz in context: Adaptive quiz questions relate directly to the contents of the notebook – including references to the stored sources.
  • Seamless Workflow: No more switching apps: Research, structure and learn in one interface.
  • KI-Support with Gemini-models: The generation is based on Google's current Gemini-Models to present content in an understandable and focused manner.

Thats how it works

Create map cards

  • Gather relevant notes and sources in a notebook.
  • Open the new learning view and index cards generate it.
  • Edit cards as needed: sharpen questions, clarify answers, add examples.

Start Quiz

  • Activate quiz mode and select a topic area.
  • Questions are dynamically generated from the available material.
  • Immediate feedback: Correct answers are explained, including a reference to the respective source.

Learning in context

  • Everything in one place: Note, index card and source remain linked.
  • Iterative deepening: Directly research unclear points, expand notes, and generate new maps.

Who will benefit from the update?

  • Students: Turn lecture notes into exam-ready flashcards.
  • Teachers: Quickly derive formative quizzes from work materials.
  • Research & Knowledge Workers: Actively embed reports and papers instead of just summarizing them.
  • Teams in onboarding: Combine checklists and guidelines with knowledge checks.

Advantages at a glance

  • Go from reading to practicing faster: Less friction, more learning time.
  • Higher retention performance: Active retrieval instead of passive consumption.
  • Source-based: Questions arise from the material itself – transparently and comprehensibly.
  • Scalable: From individual notes to large collections of knowledge.

Classification and outlook

The update will be rolled out gradually this week. With the integration of flashcards and quizzes, NotebookLM moves closer to a comprehensive learning and knowledge system: content is created in the notebook and shared via [missing information - likely a specific app or feature]. KI condensed and can then be methodically trained.

With the underlying GeminiGoogle Labs' models focus on robust generation and contextual accuracy. Crucially, users retain control: content can be edited, sources remain visible, and the learning process is always traceable.
